User Experience Design for an Award-Winning Music Company

Reservoir Media is an independent, award-winning music company representing a roster of globally recognized artists and record labels. With a complex ecosystem of content spanning multiple labels, artists, and audiences, Reservoir Media needed a digital experience that could scale while remaining intuitive and engaging. They partnered with e9digital to redesign their user experience and create a clearer, more navigable website that supports discovery and reflects the company’s creative stature.

Having a Content-Rich Website that is Hard to Navigate

Reservoir Media’s website housed a large volume of content across artists, labels, news, and releases, but the existing user experience made it difficult for visitors to find what they were looking for quickly. Navigation lacked clarity, content hierarchy was inconsistent, and users could easily feel overwhelmed. The challenge was to reorganize and streamline the experience without sacrificing the depth and richness of the content.

A website section titled "Explore Catalog" features headlines about Reservoir, an independent music company, and includes a black-and-white photo of a smiling man in a recording studio.

UX Design Built Around Structure, Discovery, and Clarity

e9digital approached the project by focusing on how users actually explore music content online. The redesigned UX emphasizes logical organization, clear pathways, and consistent interaction patterns. Key elements of the solution included:

  • A restructured navigation system that makes it easier to explore labels, artists, and releases
  • Improved content hierarchy to guide users through dense information more intuitively
  • Cleaner layouts that balance visual interest with readability
  • UX patterns that support exploration while reducing friction and confusion

This approach allows users to move naturally through the site while maintaining a strong connection to the brand’s creative identity.

A More Intuitive Experience for Fans and Industry Audiences

The redesigned user experience gives Reservoir Media a website that better supports content discovery and engagement. Visitors can now navigate more easily, explore artists and releases with confidence, and interact with the site without unnecessary friction. The improved UX aligns with Reservoir Media’s reputation as a forward-thinking music company and provides a scalable digital foundation to support continued growth and evolving content needs.
